Osher Map Library Celebrates 20th Anniversary:

The Osher Map Library (OML) and Smith Center for Cartographic Education is located on the first floor of the University of Southern Maine’s Glickman Library (Forest Avenue, Portland). The Library is committed to preserving the cartographic heritage of the state, region, and nation for future generations.

This year the Osher Map Library celebrates it’s 20th anniversary.  An exhibition entitled, The Art of the Hand-Drawn Map, will be open to the public through February 26, 2015.  It is comprised of  35 manuscript maps, from Asia, Europe, and North America, including 10 from Maine, dating from the sixteenth through the twentieth centuries.

OML has also made available a publication entitled 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Osher Map Library presented by the Osher Map Library and Smith Center for Cartographic Education (OML).  This special publication will serve as  a celebration of 20 years of collecting America’s greatest treasures and is just a snapshot of the collections available at OML. Copies are available at the Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library. For more information about the Osher Map Library visit their website at oshermaps.org
