Sign Up Now! Kid’s Winter Garden Program: Make a Terrarium

Kid’s Winter Garden Program at the Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library on four consecutive Thursdays beginning January 8th through January 29th from 3-4 p.m. Join us for one class or all four sessions. The following is a schedule of each weekly program.

Thursday, January 15: Make a Terrarium. Children ages 8 and up are invited to join us to make a miniature Terrarium. Create your own tiny ecosystem in a recycled glass vase or jar. All interior supplies (soil, plants moss, miniatures) will be provided by the instructor. Please bring a clear empty glass vase or large clear mason jar.

Thursday, January 22: Make a Bird Feeder. Children ages 8 and up are invited to join us to make two Bird Feeders. One with recycled bleach or milk containers, the other with pine cones, vegetable shortening and bird seed. Please bring a clean empty plastic or cardboard milk carton or clean empty plastic bleach jug. Some extra containers will be provided by the instructor.

Thursday, January 29: Make a Zen Garden. Children ages 8 and up are invited to join us to make a portable table top Zen Garden with sand, sea shells, crystals and miniatures. All supplies will be provided by the instructor.

The Kid’s Winter Garden classes will be taught by Shelley Wigglesworth, a certified Maine Master Gardener and award winning newspaper columnist from Kennebunk, Maine. Pre-registration is required. The Library is located at 18 Maine Street, Kennebunkport. About Graves Library

I am a public library located in southern Maine. I am open 42 hours per week and serve over 6,000 patrons. The Library collaborates with others to meet the needs of the entire community for education, information, recreation, and communication. Residents of the towns of Kennebunkport, Kennebunk, Cape Porpoise, Wells, or Arundel, Maine (including general area) are welcome to a free Library Card. Non-Residents are also welcome to a temporary card for a fee of $20.00 (deposit). At the end of the stay, the non-resident may request their deposit be returned as long as the account is clear of any fines and all materials have been safely returned to the Library.
