Take Your Child To The Library Day:



The Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library invites the community to visit the library Saturday morning, Feb. 7, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. to celebrate ‘Take Your Child to the Library Day’. We will feature a Drop-In Bookmark Craft. All supplies will be provided to create your own bookmark. This annual nationwide event is held to encourage parents and caregivers to bring children to the library on a regular basis. If your child does not have a Library Card this would be the perfect time to get one. Residents of Kennebunkport, Kennebunk, Cape Porpoise, Wells, or Arundel (including general area) are welcome to a free Library Card. The Library is located at 18 Maine Street, Kennebunkport. Free Income Tax Help:

Volunteer tax preparers in the AARP Tax-Aide Program will provide free tax filing assistance on Individual and Joint returns at the Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library on Wednesdays from 9am-1pm Wednesday, February 4 through April 15, 2014. Membership in AARP is not required and no appointment is necessary.

Like thousands of other volunteers across the country, the local AARP Tax-Aide
Volunteers complete training courses in aspects of tax law with materials supplied by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The volunteers provide free electronic filing services using IRS software that also is used by many paid professionals. Individuals for tax assistance are asked to bring all necessary paperwork, including the following:

  • Photo ID for self (and spouse, if filing jointly)
  • Social Security Card(s) or Individual Taxpayer Identification for ALL individuals to be listed on the tax return as dependents.
  • Wage and earnings statement(s): W-2(s), W-2G(s), 1099-R(s), from all employers
  • (Year-end pay stubs are not accepted)
  • Any other documents relating to income, expenses and banking
  • Bank documents showing routing and account numbers if using Direct Deposit (preferably a check)
  • Property tax and mortgage interest documentation
  • For itemized returns: documentation for out-of-pocket expenses for medical bills, supplemental insurance premiums, charitable contributions, etc.
  • Child care documentation; listing provider name, address, tax ID number and amount paid; Alimony and child support documentation

NOTE: If filing a joint return, both spouses must be present in order to file and sign required forms.
